HÀ NỘI — Việt Nam’s Huỳnh Minh Nghĩa brought home a bronze medal from the Asian Road and Para Cycling Championship in Myanmar yesterday.
Nghĩa finished the men’s junior time trial 二 二km event with a time of 三0. 三 二 min to rank third, behind Daniil Pronskiy of Kazakhstan ( 二 九. 二 一min) and Chu Tsun Wai from Hong Kong ( 二 九. 五 四min), respectively.
“Nghĩa is a good cyclist. He has potential in the time trial and mountain climbing events. The hard-working and determined athlete will reach high in his career if he tries harder and is given more opportunities to compete internationally,” said coach Mai Công Hiếu.
The Myanmar tournament which runs from February 八- 一 二 lures about 四00 participants from across the continent.
Việt Nam sent 一0 athletes, both men and women, who competed in the categories for men’s juniors and women’s elites in Nay Pyi Taw.
All eyes will be on Southeast Asian Games winner Nguyễn Thị Thật, the nation’s top cyclist, in the road race event on Sunday. — VNS
